The divisions tab on the League Settings page allows you to create, view, and edit divisions within your seasons. Divisions are typically used to group teams. In amateur leagues, division are often skill or aged-based. In professional leagues, divisions are often used to group teams in a similar geographic area.
Both a league and a season must be setup to add divisions.
Name: Name of the division.
Note: Divisions are sorted in the divisions table and filters throughout All-Star Rec Manager by their name.
Standings Custom Columns: This feature allows you to customize the columns per division which can be useful in a multi-sport league where the columns may need to look different. If not enabled, the default columns from the Preferences page will be applied to this division.
Standings Custom Order: This feature allows you to customize the standings order per division which can be useful in a multi-sport league where the tie-breaks may be different. If not enabled, the default standings order from the Preferences page will be applied to this division.
Set conditions for player ages to create objective, consistent limits on which players are eligible to play in a division and is regulated on the team rosters, sub requests, and scoresheet. Non-compliant players are noted in these places.
Age Restricted: Enable to set age limits for the division. When enabled, additional fields appear.
Early & Late Birthdates: The early birthdate is for the oldest person in the division and the late birthdate is for the youngest person in the division. If there is no maximum age, enter 01-01-1900.
Exceptions: The Exceptions section is used to add exceptions to the age restrictions. For example, if you want to allow two players below the minimum age to play per team, then you can set that exception here. Click the plus button directly below the Exceptions table to add a row. Select the category, select the position, and enter the number of players in the Value field. You may add multiple exceptions.
Set conditions for player ratings to create objective, consistent limits on which players are eligible to play in a division and is regulated on the team rosters, sub requests, and scoresheet. Non-compliant players are noted in these places. This feature, along with Team Ratings below, offers a way to regulate player skill levels and balance teams to create parity.
Player Ratings: Enable to set player rating limits for the division. When enabled, additional fields appear.
Player Rating Info: The minimum and maximum ratings of players in a division per position. The positions are separated out to offer the flexibility to allow the range for different positions to be different within the same division.
Player Rating Rules: Setup additional rules per division that impact player ratings. The variables x and y show up in the table. The Rating column is variable x and the Value column is variable y. For example, let's say you only want to allow 3 players on a roster who are rated a 7. For the category, you would select Max players y at or above x. Select your position, enter 7 for the Rating (x), and enter 3 for the Value (y). A warning will appear in the sub requests table and scoresheet if the rules are broken for a game.
Deflate ratings higher than x to y
Inflate ratings lower than x to y
Max players y at or above rating x
Min players y at or above rating x
Max players y at or below rating x
Min players y at or below rating x
Note: For the player rating criteria to work, participants need to be given a rating for each position they play. Player ratings can be added on the Participants page.

Team Ratings: Enable to set team rating limits for the division. When enabled, additional fields appear.
Team Rating Increment: This field is used to set the number of decimal places following the whole number. For example, if you want the Team Rating Cap to be at 7.5, then set the increment at 0.1. If you want it to be 7.52, then set the increment at 0.01.
Team Rating Rounding: This field is used to set the rounding method for additional decimal places. A normal round is a conventional round (example: assuming an increment of 0.1, 7.55 would round to 7.6). Rounding up will round up to the next number (example: assuming an increment of 0.1, 7.51 would round up to 7.6). Rounding down will essentially remove extra decimal positions (example: assuming an increment of 0.1, 7.59 would round down to 7.5).
Team Rating Cap: The team rating cap for the division. Think of it as an average rating of all players on a team. Multipliers can be set per position and even per rating in the event you want to have goalies counted differently than skaters, or higher rated players differently than lower rated players.
Note: The team rating cap is calculated individually for each game. On the Sub Requests page, individual sub requests are taken into account for this calculation, including dropping all absent rostered player ratings and adding sub player ratings. On the Scoresheet, it uses the players checked into a game as it’s basis.
Multipliers: Multipliers applied to each position. The default multiplier is 1. For example, in hockey, it may be beneficial to use a multiplier other than 1 with the goalies since goalies are on the ice the whole game.
Note: For the team rating criteria to work, participants need to be given a rating for each position they play. Player ratings can be added on the Participants page.
To move a division to another league or season, check the boxes next to the division(s) you want to move and click the Move button below the table. In the popup window, select the league and season to which you want to move the division and click the Move button.
It is recommended that you do not delete a division since all historical data within the division will become inaccessible.
